The Fleet
Ritz-Carlton entered the nautical space with a thesis: the cruise industry had optimized for volume, not experience. Their answer was to build something smaller. Evrima, the first vessel, launched as a proof of concept. Ilma and Luminara followed, and together the three yachts operate as a collection rather than a fleet. Each carries fewer than 300 guests. Each sails routes that larger ships physically cannot.
The distinction matters. A 5,000-passenger cruise ship docks at the commercial terminal. A Ritz-Carlton yacht pulls into the marina. You step off the gangway and you are already in the village. No shuttle bus. No tendering queue. No 45-minute transfer to the place you actually came to see.
Evrima
The original. 298 guests. 149 suites. Launched in 2022 and refined continuously since. The smallest of the three, which makes it the most nimble. She accesses ports that Ilma and Luminara cannot.
Ilma
Delivered in 2024. Slightly larger, with expanded public spaces and a redesigned marina platform at the stern. The marina drops open to create a private beach club at anchor — jet skis, paddleboards, and a swimming platform directly off the back of the ship.
Luminara
The newest addition. Same DNA as Ilma, with refinements based on two years of guest feedback. Every suite has a private terrace. The restaurant count has expanded to five, including a Japanese omakase counter that seats twelve.
The Mediterranean Routing
The 2026 Mediterranean season runs from late April through October. Itineraries range from 4-night getaways to 10-night deep explorations. The routing architecture favors the eastern and central Mediterranean, though western sailings (Barcelona, Monte Carlo, Portofino) are also available.
Representative itineraries for the 2026 season:
- Greek Isles, 7 nights: Athens (Piraeus), Patmos, Kusadasi (for Ephesus), Mykonos, Santorini, Rhodes, Naxos. Late-night departures from Mykonos. Private beach events.
- Riviera, 7 nights: Monte Carlo to Rome. Stops in Cannes, Calvi (Corsica), Livorno (for Florence and Pisa), and Portofino. Wine tastings in Tuscany.
- Adriatic, 8 nights: Venice to Athens. Dubrovnik, Kotor (Montenegro), Corfu, and coastal Albanian ports that most travelers have never considered.
- Quick Escape, 4 nights: Barcelona to Rome via Monte Carlo and Portofino. Designed for those with limited time and specific taste.
What the itineraries do not show is the operational philosophy: late-night departures and occasional overnights in port. When the ship stays until midnight in Mykonos, that is not accidental. The scheduling is engineered so that you experience each destination at the hours when it is most alive.
What Happens Onboard
The Ritz-Carlton hospitality model translates to water more cleanly than you might expect. The staff-to-guest ratio is roughly 1:1. Dining is open-seating and reservation-free across all venues. There is no formal night, no assigned table, no cruise director with a microphone.
Suites are designed as residences, not cabins. Every category includes a private terrace, king bed, and a bathroom scaled to hotel standards rather than maritime minimums. The entry-level suite on Ilma is 300 square feet before you count the terrace. The owner's suite is north of 1,000.
The operating principle is simple: remove the friction that makes cruising feel like cruising.
Shore excursions are curated rather than catalogued. Instead of 40 bus-tour options at every port, the collection offers a smaller number of experiences with better access. Private vineyard lunches. Guided walks through neighborhoods that the larger ships miss entirely. Archaeological site visits timed to avoid the crowds.
The 2026 Eclipse Sailing
On August 12, 2026, a total solar eclipse will cross the Mediterranean. Ilma will be sailing from Monte Carlo during the event, positioning the yacht in the path of totality. For travelers who have seen eclipses on land, the open water offers an unobstructed horizon in every direction. No buildings. No trees. No light pollution. Just the shadow arriving across the sea.

Getting There by Private Jet
The Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection offers optional air, land, and hotel services to coordinate pre- and post-cruise logistics. But for those who prefer to control their own positioning, a private jet to the departure port eliminates the commercial airline layer entirely.
Athens, Monte Carlo, Barcelona, Venice — every embarkation city is served by private aviation infrastructure. Charter into Eleftherios Venizelos, transfer directly to Piraeus. Fly into Nice Cote d'Azur, and Monte Carlo is a 20-minute drive. The yacht departs in the evening. You land in the afternoon. There is no rush.
