Flying Your Pet to Europe on a Private Jet

Guide to flying pets to Europe on a private jet. EU entry requirements, health documentation, rabies titer tests, and country-specific regulations.

Europe has standardized pet entry requirements through the EU Pet Travel Scheme, but important variations exist between countries. Private jet travel to Europe with your pet means in-cabin comfort on a transatlantic flight — but the documentation must be perfect or your pet will be denied entry.

EU Standard Requirements

ISO 15-digit microchip. Rabies vaccination at least 21 days before entry. EU Animal Health Certificate (based on Annex IV of Regulation 577/2013), completed by a USDA-accredited vet and endorsed by USDA-APHIS. Valid for 10 days from date of issue for entry, then 4 months of travel within the EU.

Country Variations

France, Italy, Spain, Germany — standard EU requirements. UK (post-Brexit) — separate requirements including tapeworm treatment. Ireland — mirrors UK requirements. Scandinavia — some countries require tapeworm treatment. Switzerland — separate from EU but accepts EU health certificates.

Transatlantic Flight Considerations

New York to London: approximately 7 hours. Plan for your pet's comfort over this duration. Bring water, food, and pee pads for longer flights. Most dogs and cats handle 7–8 hour flights well on private jets.
